UK Reports Record 1 Lakh-Plus COVID Cases In A Day!

London: The UK, among countries which have been hit hard by Omicron, reported more than 100,000 COVID-positive cases in the last 24 hours for the first time.

The 106,122 new infections represent the highest figure since mass testing began in the summer of 2020, reports AFP.

With Omicron emerging as the dominant strain in the UK at a time when Christmas and New Year festivities peak, the Boris Johnson-headed government has stepped up booster dose campaign.

UK has administered over 30 million third doses of the COVID vaccine with the target being to cover all adults with booster dose before the end of the year.

Regulators in UK on Wednesday approved Pfizer’s COVID vaccine to be used among children from 5-11 years of age.
