Uliburu Mining Scam: Orissa High Court Grants One-Month Interim Bail To Prime Accused

Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Friday rejected the application of the prime accused in Uliburu mining scam Deepak Gupta for regular bail again but granted interim bail for one month.

While granting the interim bail, the High Court set certain conditions including deposit of Rs one crore in cash with the court and surety of Rs two crore.

Ordering Gupta not to go outside Keonjhar without its permission, the court directed him to appear before the court physically on each date of hearing of the case during the interim bail period and surrender his passport with the court.

The court has also told Gupta to surrender in the court after completion of the interim bail period of one month.

Earlier, the High Court had rejected Gupta’s bail application for five times while the Supreme Court had turned down for two times.

The prime accused in the Rs 1,800-crore mining scam, Gupta has been in jail since September 5, 2013.

State Vigilance officials arrested him on September 4, 2013, for his alleged involvement in the mining scam at Uliburu in Keonjhar. A chargesheet was filed against 29 persons including the family members of Gupta.
