Sundargarh: A woman died following suspected heart attack after her minor son passed away due to a snakebite at Dhengurpani village under Budhamba panchayat in Rajgangpur tehsil of Odisha’s Sundargarh.
The deceased were identified as Sukanti Kujur and her six-year-old son Gyandeep.
According to sources, Gyandeep was playing outside the house on Friday when he was bitten by a snake. He was rushed by locals to Rajgangpur community health centre (CHC) where the doctors declared him dead. But residents brought him back to the village and tried to infuse life into his body through exorcism.
While the villagers were trying to revive him, the boy’s mother Sukanti complained of chest pain and fell unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.
On being informed, police reached the spot and the bodies were sent for postmortem.
