Bhubaneswar: Panic spread among passengers of the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express on Wednesday after an unclaimed and suspicious looking parcel was found inside a coach.
As per sources, the incident took place while the train was passing through Jharkhand, prompting an immediate response from the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Passengers of the B1 coach spotted the suspicious package and alerted onboard RPF personn
el. As no passenger came forward to claim ownership, security personnel cordoned off the area and carried out an initial assessment. The uncertainty surrounding the contents of the parcel added to rising tension inside the coach.
The Rajdhani Express was reportedly asked to halt at the next major station to ensure safe handling of the parcel. RPF personnel carefully offloaded the parcel and secured it for detailed examination. After the removal of the suspicious item, the train was given clearance to continue its journey toward Bhubaneswar.
The sudden recovery of the parcel and increase in security presence created anxiety among passengers. Officials are yet to determine whether the parcel contains any hazardous material. Further details are awaited as the RPF continues to trace the source and nature of the suspicious parcel.
