Uncle ‘Rapes’ Class-X Girl In Koraput, Arrested

Koraput: A youth was arrested on Thursday on charges of raping a Class-X girl six months ago at Laxmipur in Koraput district.

Police said the accused, Lambodhar Benia, hails from Sodabadi village near Bandhugaon. He is a distant relative of the victim.

According to sources, the accused had gone to the girl’s school and introduced himself as her uncle. He told the school authorities that the girl’s mother had called her home. Benia then took the girl in his car and later raped her.

The matter came to light after a complaint was lodged against Benia at Laxmipur police station. Police launched a manhunt for the accused, who had been absconding since the incident. He was finally caught on Thursday.

Police will produce him in court on Friday.
