New Delhi/ Mumbai: Reacting to Income Tax Department’s survey action at BBC offices in New Delhi & Mumbai over alleged irregularities and income concealment, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said that the government is using diversionary tactics to tide over the Adani row.
“We are demanding Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the allegations against Adani and the government is running after BBC. Vinash Kale Viprit Buddhi,” he said in the response video posted by the party.
In another tweet, it wrote “First came the BBC documentary, it was banned. Now IT has raided BBC. undeclared emergency.”
Reacting to the raids, Congress’ Gaurav Gogoi tweeted, “At the time India holds the Presidency of the G-20 nations, PM Modi continues to brazenly show India’s slide into authoritarianism and dictatorship. Raids on BBC, clean chit to Adani, tax cuts for rich, people’s homes being bulldozed, inequality and unemployment on the rise.”

Congress leader KC Venugopal, who had accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of running away from answering the questions raised by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, also tweeted about the raids.
TMC’s Mahua Moitra also took to Twitter and wrote, “Reports of Income Tax raid at BBC’s Delhi office. Wow, really? How unexpected.”
This has come weeks after BBC aired a two-part documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots and India.
