Patna: The superstructure of an under-construction bridge over the Ganga collapsed in Bihar on Saturday.
The four-lane bridge, spanning 3.1 km, was being constructed by SP Singla Constructions Private Limited at a cost of Rs 1,710 crore, The Indian Express reported.
According to officials of Bhagalpur administration, the superstructure spanning 100 feet from the Sultanganj end collapsed due to the impact of strong winds and rain. No casualty has been reported.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has ordered an inquiry, while Road Construction minister Nitin Nabin has sought details from the construction company.
It’s a key construction, as the bridge will link south and north Bihar. Nitish had laid the foundation of the bridge in January 2014.
