Under-Pressure PM Cancels West Bengal Election Campaign Trip

New Delhi: Under pressure from all quarters regarding the alarming COVID-19 situation crisis in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his trip to West Bengal on April 23.

The Prime Minister was scheduled to address four election rallies ahead of the seventh phase of polling for the West Bengal assembly.

“Tomorrow, will be chairing high-level meetings to review the prevailing #COVID19 situation. Due to that, I would not be going to West Bengal,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

Earlier on Thursday, the Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting to review oxygen supply across the country. Hospitals in several cities have been complaining of scarcity in oxygen supply and crying out for help.

Modi asked top officials to work rapidly on increasing its production, boosting the speed of distribution and using innovative ways to provide oxygen support to health facilities.
