Undertrial Escapes From Jail In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Police are on the hunt for an under-trial prisoner who escaped from the sub-jail in Odisha’s Malkangiri late on Tuesday night.

Reports say that Balimela police had arrested Ajit Dakua in January for illegal transportation of ganja in Malkangiri district and lodged him in the district sub-jail. But on Tuesday night the jail authorities found him missing. The authorities had engaged jail inmates in cleaning of a drain inside the premises in the afternoon.

Following the incident, the authorities have lodged a complaint at Malkangiri police station.
