Malkangiri: An undertrial prisoner was found hanging inside a jail in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Saturday.
As per reports, the undertrial, identified as Bidhan Mrudha, belonging to MV 33 in the district and his wife were lodged in Malkangiri sub-jail. They were facing trial in a murder case.
The inmates of the jail found Mrudha hanging from a towel in a toilet early Saturday morning. The jail authorities informed the police who retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Mrudha’s wife and family members have alleged that he did not commit suicide. Alleging that he was murdered, they have demanded investigation to ascertain the facts.
However, jail superintendent said the cause of death would be known after getting the post-mortem repost. The CCTV footage of the movement of Mrudha has been retrieved for investigation, he added.
