Bhubaneswar: The authorities of Jharpada Special Jail here, have written to BMC to conduct test of all the inmates as an undertrial prisoner tested positive after his death,
The deceased was identified as Jugal Khandual. He was an accused in the chit fund scam and lodged in the jail since 2019.
According to sources, Khandual complained of fever following which he was admitted to the Capital Hospital here on September 13. Later, he was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
He died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. His swab sample was collected for COVID-19 test and the result was positive.
Stating that Khandual had come in contact with several inmates, the jail authorities have written to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to conduct COVID-19 test of the inmates.
