Jharsuguda: An undertrial prisoner lodged in Jharsuguda sub-jail died at the district headquarters hospital on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Binod Kishan (34), had been behind bars since June 18, 2014 for his alleged involvement in a murder case.
A case was registered against him under Section 498 (a) 302 of IPC.
“Soon after the prayer in the jail, the prisoner complained about uneasiness, following which he was immediately taken to the district headquarters hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead,” a police officer said.
His family members have already been informed about the incident. They have not yet arrived, the officer added.
The reason behind Binod’s death is being investigated.
