Undertrial Prisoner Dies On Way To Hospital In Keonjhar

Keonjhar: An undertrial prisoner died while being rushed to hospital in Keonjhar district on Tuesday.

Akshay Pradhan, who was serving life term, suddenly fell ill this morning and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by the jail staff. However, he passed away on the way to hospital.

An inquiry has been launched by the jail authorities to ascertain the reason behind the mysterious death of the convict.

On May 20, Prasanna Sahu, another undertrial prisoner of Jayapatna jail in Kalahandi district, died while undergoing treatment at Sambalpur district headquarters hospital.

Sahu had told the jail authorities that he was feeling unwell on May 17. Following which, the authorities admitted him to the hospital.

Sahu was serving life imprisonment.
