Undertrial Tests COVID-19 Positive In Odisha’s Jajpur Sub-Jail

Jajpur: The inmates of the sub-jail here are in a panic after an undertrial prisoner tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

According to sources, the person, accused in a murder case, was arrested in Bihar and produced before a court in the district on July 9.

After he was sent to the sub-jail, his swab sample was sent for test and the report confirmed him to be corona positive. Since he was lodged in the same cell where 11 other undertrials were staying, it has created panic among the latter.

The jail authorities are making arrangements to shift him to a COVID Care Centre and collect the swab samples of other undertrials and the staff, the sources said.
