Unemployed TET Passed Candidates Stage Protest Against Govt Ad For Fresh Recruitment In Bengal

Kolkata: The candidates, who had cleared the primary TET examination in 2014, on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education office, here in protest against the state government for seeking applications to fill up teacher posts instead of appointing them.

According to sources, around 130 candidates had cleared the primary teacher eligibility test (TET) in 2014. After waiting for 5 years, their document verification was made on November 7, 2019. But none of them has been issued appointment letter till date.

Atanu Roy, one of the candidates, said when they approached the authorities concerned, they said there is no vacancy. But they came to know through an RTI application that there were vacancies in different districts.

Before staging the protest, they had submitted memorandum in this regard to chief minister and education minister. But there was no response, Atanu alleged.

On November 23, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education posted an advertisement on its website stating that the candidates, who cleared the TET in 2015 and received training of DElEd course, can apply online from November 25 to December 1.

The aggrieved candidates have challenged the Board’s advertisement in the high court.
