Jalandhar: An unusual protest resulted in traffic coming to a standstill on a highway in Jalandhar.
In an almost unheard of demonstration, a cop showed dissent against his seniors by lying down in the middle of the road and blocking vehicular movement.
The home guard alleged that his seniors resorted to ‘corruption’ and ‘inaction’ against criminals.
The on-duty cop initially tried to disrupt traffic by tying a rope across the road. And when a colleague of his untied the rope, the adamant home guard lay down, causing traffic jam on the highway to Pathankot.
The video of the incident has gone viral and the home guard personnel can be heard raising a voice against his peers.
“I catch thieves and cops at my police station and let them off after taking money (bribe),” the home guard personnel was heard saying.
He reportedly decided to stage the protest over a man who was caught by him in a case a few days ago.
“A young man was brought to the police station a few days ago by the said Home Guard jawan in connection with a quarrel. But in that case, the said accused applied for bail in court and after getting the bail, he was released,” Bhogpur police station in-charge Sukhjit Singh said.
