Nayagarh: The body of an unidentified woman, which was found with throat slit on a roadside, has sparked a panic situation in a village of Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
According to sources, some villagers of Gangadiha village under Banigoccha police station in the district found the woman lying in a pool of blood on a walking path in a forest near the village at around 11 am on Thursday.
On being informed by the villagers, the local sarpanch went to the spot but could not identify the woman. He called up the police station and told them about the incident.
A police team along with a scientific team and sniffer dogs arrived at the village and started investigation. On closer verification, the police found the woman’s throat slit with a sharp weapon, which they suspected might have led to heavy bleeding.
They have registered a case and started further investigation to ascertain the identity of the woman.
