New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) wants to investigate three senior IAS officers, including Union Agriculture secretary Sanjay Agarwal and Power secretary Alok Kumar.
According to sources, CBI has sought sanction for investigation in connection with its probe into alleged irregularities in investment of Employees’ Provident Fund of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) in the scam-hit Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd (DHFL), Hindustan Times reported.
The two Union secretaries apart, the third person under CBI scanner is Aparna U, mission director, National Health Mission, UP.
CBI had reportedly sought the sanction against Agarwal, Kumar and Aparna in December 2021 from the UP government as the case pertains to alleged irregularities in the state.
Uttar Pradesh Power Sector Employees Trust, which handles the state-run power company’s PF contributions, had invested Rs 4,122.5 crore in a number of short-term fixed deposits of DHFL, but only Rs 1,854.3 crore was recovered from the company, the report said.
The Yogi Adityanath government had handed over the probe to the CBI in November 2019.
