Bhubaneswar: The Centre has allocated Rs 10,599 crore for the railway sector in Odisha in the Union Budget for 2025-26 financial year.
This was announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday afternoon.
While announcing the outlay for the state, the Minister said that railway projects worth over Rs 78,000 crore are being implemented in Odisha.
He said the BJP government at the Centre laid more than 2,000 km new rail tracks in the state in last ten years. The figure has surpassed the entire railway networks in Malaysia, claimed Vaishnaw.
A total of six Vande Bharat trains are now operating in Odisha and the state is likely to get more such trains in the future, he said.
“In the past 10 years, 2046 new tracks have been constructed in Odisha, which is more than all tracks in Malaysia. There are six Vande Bharat trains running currently in Odisha. Moreover, railway projects worth Rs 75,000 crore are underway in Odisha. Kavach technology for better safety has been implemented in 1898 km track across Odisha,” the Railway Minister told reporters.
