Bhubaneswar: The Union Government has instituted an annual award named Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar. The award will be announced every year on January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It carries a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 51 lakh.
The Eighth Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) located at Ghaziabad has been selected for the award for this year in recognition of its commendable work in disaster management.
The NDRF was instituted in 2006. It has been working in New Delhi, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar has been instituted to acknowledge the contribution and selfless service of organisations and individuals to humanity in the aftermath of any disaster.
