Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah is set to undertake a two-day visit to Odisha shortly, a senior party leader said on Wednesday.
BJP state secretary Kalahdi Samal told reporters in Bhubaneswar that Shah is slated to attend several programmes in Bhadrak and Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituencies during his visit.
However, the date of the Home Minister’s visit is yet to be finalised, he said. The exact tour programme is being worked out.
Apart from attending certain events, the Home Minister is likely to hold meetings with senior state party leaders as well as workers during his visit.
Shah’s Odisha visit assumes significance as Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections are due next year and the saffron party is gearing up for bolstering its poll prospects.
The Home Minister had last visited Odisha in August last year. Apart from visiting the birthplace of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Odia Bazar in Cuttack, he had attended other events. In Bhubaneswar, Shah had taken part in Har Ghar Triranga Abhiyan and held a meeting of the state BJP’s core committee at its headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
