New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD’s) Harsimrat Kaur Badal has resigned as Union Minister of Food Processing Industries in protest against the farm bills that the Centre has introduced in Parliament.
SAD has been at loggerheads with the BJP over farm bills, which has led to farmer organisations protesting vehemently in Punjab and Haryana. The farmers feel that the bills will end the assured minimum support price for agriculture produce.
“I have resigned from Union Cabinet in protest against anti-farmer ordinances and legislation. Proud to stand with farmers as their daughter and sister,” SAD leader Harsimrat tweeted.
