Mumbai: Union minister Narayan Rane, who was arrested on Tuesday following his ‘slap’ comment against chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, hit back a day later by threatening the Maharashtra government over the death case of late Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager Disha Salian.
Vowing to ensure the Disha case reaches a logical conclusion, Rane said: “I won’t stop unless the guilty are punished.”
A week before Sushant was found hanging from his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020, Disha was found dead.
Rane, Union minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, has been claiming that Disha was raped and murdered, but the case was closed as the autopsy report ruled out murder and any sexual assault, and asserted that she committed suicide.
A former Shiv Sena and Congress leader now with the BJP, Rane had been quiet on the Disha case for some time. But he raked it up after being arrested by Mumbai Police for his comment against Thackeray.
“It is shameful that the chief minister does not know the year of Independence. He leaned back to enquire about the count of years of independence during his (August 15) speech. Had I been there, I would have given (him) a tight slap,” Rane had said on Monday.
He was arrested on Tuesday, before being granted bail. On Wednesday, the Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court that it would not take any coercive action against Rane.
