Union Minister Vaishnaw Assures Early Completion Of Khurda-Balangir Rly Line

Balangir: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said the Khurda-Balangir railway line will be completed soon and steps taken for train connectivity between Balangir and Nuapada.

Arriving at Patnagarh in the last leg of BJP’s ‘Ashirvad Yatra’ on Sunday, the minister said all issues including land acquisition for the Khurda-Balangir rail line, which has been ganging fire for several decades, will be addressed so that it can be completed as early as possible.

On the local people’s demand for laying new railway line from Balangir to Nuapada through Patnagarh, he said Balangir MP Sangita Kumari Singhdeo has apprised him of the matter and necessary steps would be taken after consultation with the stakeholders.

On his arrival, Vaishnaw went in a bike rally to garland the statue of eminent Odia litterateur Gangadhar Meher. The Balangir MP and former legislator Kanak Bardhan Singhdeo accompanied him.

The minister also went to Maa Dasamati temple to offer prayer to the deity. Then he participated in a road-dhow from Brahmapura to Ramji Square in the town before leaving for Balangir.
