Koraput: Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the buildings of academic block, library and staff quarters at Central University of Odisha (CUO) here through virtual mode on the occasion of its foundation day.
Speaking on the occasion, Pokhriyal congratulated the university for becoming one of the prominent universities in the country within a few years. He also praised the efforts of the CUO during the COVID-19 period by launching the ‘Bharosa’ programme, which helped a lot of students in overcoming the pandemic trauma through counselling. He also praised the university for successfully conducting the Home Based Open Book Examination.
On his part, Pradhan said, “The new education policy, which focuses on a broad-based and creative curriculum, will enable the CUO to provide more opportunities for disadvantaged students and also promote research-based tribal and anthropological studies in Odisha.”
Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. I. Ramabrahmam, who earlier unfurled the university flag, inaugurated the Foundation Day Programme in the presence of faculty members, officers and staff.
