Unity, Innovation & Wellness: Key Highlights From PM Modi’s Latest Mann Ki Baat

New Delhi: In the 119th episode of his monthly radio program “Mann Ki Baat,” broadcast on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed several pressing issues, including the alarming rise in obesity among children, advancements in space exploration, and the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela.

Rising Concerns Over Childhood Obesity

Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the escalating rates of obesity in the country, particularly among children. He highlighted a study revealing that one in every eight individuals is affected by obesity, with cases among children quadrupling in recent years. Emphasizing the health risks associated with excessive oil consumption, such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, he urged citizens to reduce their monthly oil intake by 10%. “By making small changes in our eating habits, we can make our future stronger, fitter, and disease-free,” Modi stated.

Celebrating ISRO’s Milestone in Space Exploration

Shifting focus to India’s achievements in space technology, the Prime Minister lauded the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its 100th rocket launch. He noted that this milestone reflects India’s commitment to reaching new heights in space science. Modi also highlighted the increasing participation of women in space science, describing it as a source of national pride. He encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to engage with science by visiting research labs or space centers, suggesting an initiative called “One Day As A Scientist.”

Preparations for Mahakumbh 2025

Looking ahead, Prime Minister Modi discussed the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela, scheduled to take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, 2025. He described the event as a “Mahakumbh of unity,” where millions gather without discrimination. For the first time, an AI chatbot will be introduced to provide information related to the Kumbh in 11 Indian languages. Digital navigation systems will assist pilgrims in locating various ghats, temples, and akharas, and AI-powered cameras will enhance safety by helping locate missing persons. Modi urged participants to use this occasion to resolve to eliminate feelings of division and hatred in society.

Encouraging Participation in Democratic Processes

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the importance of active participation in democratic processes. He commended the Election Commission for its commitment to conducting free and fair elections and urged citizens to exercise their right to vote, thereby strengthening the nation’s democratic fabric.
