Unmarried Couple Attempt Suicide In Odisha’s Jharsuguda, Man Dies

Jharsuguda: In an alleged suicide attempt by an unmarried couple, the man died while the woman is undergoing treatment in critical condition in the district.

According to sources, Gobardhan Oram (30) of Ubuda village under Lakhanpur block and her girlfriend had gone missing since Tuesday. They were found unconscious by the locals at a lonely place near Marakuta village of the district on Friday.

The couple had apparently attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison. The villagers identified Oram and informed his family members.

When police reached the spot on being informed, Oram was dead. The police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. They also admitted the woman in the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

The police have registered a case and started investigation. The reason of suicide attempt by the couple is yet to be ascertained.
