Jajpur: An unmarried couple were found dead under mysterious circumstances in a village in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday.
As per reports, Gopi Pingua of Durgapur village under Kalniganagar police station in the district was in a relationship with Barsha Champiya of his village for some time. They were staying together in Gopi’s house and planning to get married soon.
On Saturday, the villagers got suspicious as the main door of Gopi’s house did not open till late in the day. When they knocked on the door and called Gopi for a long time in the afternoon, there was no response from inside.
They forced open the door to find Gopi and Barsha hanging with a saree from ceiling fan of a room.
On being informed, a team from Kalinganagar police station went to the village and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Though the cause of the unmarried couple’s death has not been ascertained, the police suspected it to be suicide. But the villagers could not say whey they took the extreme step before their marriage.
