Dhenkanal/Paralakhemundi: Incidents of missing children turning up dead continue unabated in Odisha.
In the latest incident, the body of a three-year-old boy with multiple injuries on the head was recovered from a well at a village in Dhenkanal district on Thursday morning.
The boy from Khankira village under Nihalaprasad police limits had been missing since Wednesday evening.
According to sources, the boy was last seen playing near his house. But when he did not return home, his parents launched a frantic search but in vain. Later, they lodged a complaint at Nihalaprasad police station.
The villagers found the boy’s body floating in the well early in the morning. and informed police.
Police said they have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem.
In another incident, a six-year-old boy went missing from Kumuti Sahi village near Kashinagar in Gajapati district.
In their police complaint lodged on Wednesday, the boy’s parents said villagers had seen two unidentified persons carrying a child on a bike in the afternoon.
Acting on the complaint, police have launched a manhunt in the area.
Earlier on Tuesday, the body of a three-year-old girl was recovered from a pond at Badhipatana under Ranpur block in Nayagarh district. The girl had been missing for four days.
