Phulbani: Unseasonal thunderstorm accompanied with strong gusty winds has brought life to a standstill in Odisha’s Phulbani and Balangir towns today.
According to media reports, winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 kmph have uprooted trees in Phulbani and Balangir, which in turn have snapped power cables leaving the towns in darkness.
The uprooted trees have also blocked several roads, including the roads near the offices of the Kandhamal Collector and the SP, disrupting the movement of vehicles in those areas. Some people are left with no shelter as the asbestos and tile roofs of a few houses have been blown away with the wind.
