Lucknow: BJP MLA from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, Sarita Bhadauriya, fell on the railway track during the inauguration of Agra-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express on Monday. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
The incident occurred at the crowded platform around 6 pm. Bhadauriya who is a two-time MLA from the Etawah constituency was among the people holding the green flag. Following the virtual inauguration of the train by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, the train No. 20175 was flagged by Union Minister of Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu from Agra.
Running from Agra, the train halted at Tundla before arriving at Etawah. When it arrived at Etawah, there was a commotion at the platform as people jostled each other to have a look at the train and wave the green flags.
At this stage, the 61-year-old lawmaker got pushed by the crowd and she fell on the tracks. She was promptly helped back to the platform and she stayed there waving the green flag to the train.
“The MLA was helped off the track and she then waited for some time at the platform for the flag-off event,” a report by PTI said.
“Later she consulted doctors and is resting at her home now. She did not suffer any visible physical injuries. If there is any internal injury, it is yet to be confirmed,” the report added.
