Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a man stabbed his 19-year-old daughter to death inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh for marrying a man of her own choice, who happened to be from another caste.
The incident took place at the Badausa police station, where the woman, her husband, and members of her family had assembled as part of efforts to resolve the ongoing dispute over her marriage to a man from a different caste.
The woman had married a man of her choice against her family’s wishes and had been facing sustained opposition from her parents. Family members had reportedly tried to persuade her to end the relationship, warning that marrying outside the caste would bring social stigma and dishonour to the family. However, she remained steadfast in her decision to stay with her husband, the police said.

er their marriage sparked objections from her family.
“The incident took place at the Badausa police station, where counselling was being conducted in connection with the woman’s recent inter-caste marriage,” Bansal said, as reported by News18.
“As the counselling process was underway, the accused attacked his daughter with a knife, causing fatal injuries,” he added.
Tensions escalated during the counselling session when the woman reiterated that she would continue living with her husband, policemen present at the scene said. Investigators believe the statement enraged her father, who allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked her in the presence of police personnel and relatives.
The sudden assault triggered panic and chaos inside the police station. Officers and family members rushed to intervene as the woman collapsed in a pool of blood. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead during treatment.
The victim’s mother reportedly fainted after witnessing the attack. The shocking incident left relatives and local residents stunned, particularly because the alleged murder occurred inside a police station, a place where the family had come seeking mediation.
The accused was immediately detained and the police have registered a murder case. Bansal said the case was lodged on the complaint of the victim’s mother and that the accused had been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
As investigators continue to record statements and gather evidence, the victim’s husband and relatives have demanded the strictest punishment for the accused.
