New Delhi: A group of men thrashed a medical aspirant in Kanpur after he was unable to pay a betting amount. The video is circulating on social media. It shows men mercilessly beating a boy who is seen crying with folded hands, asking the hooligans to spare him.
As per reports, the NEET aspirant from Kanpur was brutally kicked, slapped, had his face burned and a brick tied to his private parts because he was allegedly unable to repay Rs 20,000 after losing an online betting game.
According to the Times of India, six persons have been taken into custody by the police. The video also shows the accused men trying to burn the boy’s hair. They then strip him naked and tie a brick to his genitals. The video shows the boy telling the men that he will return the money after he gets a job but the assault continues. Both the victim and accused are students at a coaching institute and live in a hostel in Kanpur’s Kakadeo area.
The video ends with the victim being allowed to go with a threat to pay the money within two days or have the videos shared online. He failed to arrange the money and the accused then posted the clips online, leading to their arrest.
The men have been identified as Tanay Chaurasiya, Abhishek Verma, Yogesh Vishwakarma, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Har Govind Tiwari, and Shiva Tripathi, all from the Kakadeo police station area. They have admitted to the crime, the police said, adding they are trying to catch the other accused, the report added.
The victim is a resident of the Lavedi police station in the Etawah district, according to DCP (Central) RS Gautam. After finishing his intermediate exam, he came to Kanpur and joined coaching at Kakadeo to prepare for the NEET exam. The accused are also preparing for NEET, as per reports.
