Cold chain spaces are designed to store COVID-19 vaccines at a recommended temperature since the time of its manufacture and till the time it is used by the beneficiary.
The state is expected to receive four crore doses of the vaccine in the first phase and for that, enough storage space is required to keep those vaccines in good condition.
According to sources, additional cold chain storage facilities are being created in the state’s 26 districts.
Lucknow, Lakhimpur Kheri, Basti, Kanpur Dehat, Hathras and Siddhartha Nagar already have adequate space for keeping ice-lined refrigerators holding 36,901 litres.
