UP Shocker: Child Tests HIV Positive!

New Delhi: In what can be described as the mother of all shocks, a child in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah tested HIV positive.

How did it happen?

The girl’s family alleged that doctors at Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi Government Medical College used the same syringe on several other patients who were admitted for various illnesses.

The child’s parents met the District Magistrate after she was forced to leave the hospital following the HIV diagnosis.

Authorities have promised strict action against the culprits.

Promising strict action against the culprits, UP’s deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said a thorough investigation is underway.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV damages your immune system and interferes with your body’s ability to fight infection and disease.

HIV is infectious and can spread by contact with infected blood and from illicit drug users sharing needles, or unprotected sex with an infected person. A mother can also spread the infection to her child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.
