Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath’s government has removed Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Mukul Goel from his post for disregarding orders and not taking interest in departmental work.
An official statement also stated that the UP police chief has been transferred and posted as DG (Civil Security).
A 1987 batch IPS officer, Goel had taken over as DGP of Uttar Pradesh in July 2021.
He rose through the ranks, having worked as SP/SSP in several districts of UP, including Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Hathras, Azamgarh, Almora, Jalaun, Mainpuri and Saharanpur.
Goel also served in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and National Disaster Response Force.
He received Police Medal for Gallantry in 2003.
