Bhubaneswar: Soon, your experience of visiting parks in Bhubaneswar could well be like never before! The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has decided to organise ‘Park Utsav’ in various parks in the city to make these open spaces more lively and happening for denizens.
A host of activities such as yoga, musical programmes, art and painting competitions, theatre, story-telling, flea market, film show among others are planned to be part of the event.
The development authority will begin the exercise from next Sunday. Ten major parks have been selected as the venue for such programmes on the basis of the number of people who visit them.
Big city level parks such as Indira Gandhi Park, Buddha Jayanti Park, Biju Patnaik Park and Madhusudan Park will be among the venues for larger events like theatre, flea market, film nights, story-telling festival etc., while smaller parks will have space for yoga classes, awareness programmes, community gardening etc.
The intent of the event is to promote the city among local, national and international people as an emerging and dynamic place to live, visit, work, study, invest and play in the Indian sub-continent, the source added.
Similarly, a weekend street festival called ‘Patha Utsav’ comprising various activities including walking, cycling, physical exercise, sporting events and cultural programmes will be held in the morning hours every Sunday on Janpath from Master Canteen Square to Ram Mandir Square.
The event, earlier known as ‘Raahgiri’ was started in January, 2016 to promote health activities among citizens. Later, it was rechristened as ‘Patha Utsav’.
