Baripada: Train services were disrupted after a huge tree fell on the tracks at Betanoti railway station in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
The electric wire above the railway tracks was also snapped as the tree got uprooted and fell on rail line. As a result, train services on the route were affected for quite some time, sources said.
A couple of trains had to stop at different railway stations, leaving the passengers stranded. Balasore-Bangiriposi DMU halted at Krushnachandrapur railway station, close to Betanoti station, for some time.
Following the incident, railway officials swung into action to clear the tracks by removing the uprooted tree. Steps were also taken to restore normal train movement on the route.
