Bhawanipatana: Denied marriage by their parents, two lovers jumped in front of a moving train in Odisha’s Bhawanipatna on Tuesday.
The girl, a minor, died on the spot while the boy was rescued in a critical condition by the loco pilot and shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir.
The survivor, identified as Ghanshyam Bag, is a resident of Binekela village of Kesinga block in Kalahandi. According to sources, he has lost one leg in the mishap which occured near Kesinga.
The family had disapproved of their long-standing love affair, which forced them to take the drastic step, sources added.
The body of the deceased minor was sent for autopsy while Titilagarh GRP registered a case based on the loco-pilot’s report.
