Kendrapada: Hours after a girl student allegedly attempted suicide in Odisha’a Balasore for scoring second division in Plus II Science, a similar incident was reported from Patamundai area of Kendrapara district on Wednesday.
The girl student of Mendhapur village allegedly attempted by jumping into the Brahmani river as she was unhappy over securing 87% in the CHSE examination.
Locals rushed to her rescue and informed the fire service personnel. She was rescued and rushed to Patamundai Hospital for treatment. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Kendrapada for treatment. According to reports, she is undergoing treatment as her condition is stated to be critical.
The Plus II Science and Commerce examination results were announced by Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, at 11 am today.
Earlier, a girl of Simulia village under Nilagiri NAC in Balasore district, went to the terrace of her house and jumped off the three-storey building as she was upset over getting second division. She suffered grievous injuries and was immediately rushed to Nilagiri hospital by her family members. She was, however, referred to district headquarters hospital as her condition deteriorated, sources said.
