Washington: Breaking away from 165 years old tradition, the US will soon add signature of its president on its paper currency.

This is to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. The country is preparing to introduce the president’s signature on new US paper currency.

Earlier, the dollar bore the signature of

the Treasurer of the United States. This system had begun in 1861. First, $100 bills will feature Donald Trump’s signature.

Alongside, the signature of treasury secretary Scott Bessent will also be there.  These will be printed in a couple of months, reports stated.

After that, the same will be followed for other denominations.

Bessent observed this as a strong economic progress. He claimed it to be a fitting way to celebrate the nation’s historic achievements and its 250th anniversary.

US treasurer Brandon Beach also supported the decision. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing produces the currency notes.

The currency update comes at a time when the plan is to honour Trump during the anniversary celebrations.
