Six months into the coronavirus pandemic, the US-based Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, is advising most people with active cases of COVID-19, to isolate for 10 days after symptoms begin and 24 hours after their fever has broken, reported NDTV.
For those who test positive but are asymptomatic, the CDC recommended isolating 10 days from the testing date. Earlier, it had recommended that people isolate until they get two negative swabs for the coronavirus.
A “limited number of persons with severe illness” may continue to produce the virus longer and may warrant extending the isolation period to as much as 20 days, NDTV reported quoting CDC.
What is isolation? For people who test positive.
What is quarantine? For people who have been in contact with an infected person but whose infection is not confirmed.
