Moscow: After Joe Biden referred to Vladimir Putin as a “war criminal,” Moscow roundly criticized the US President’s comment on his Russian counterpart as unacceptable.
It’s been three weeks since Russia invaded Ukraine, but the two countries are yet to agree to a ceasefire.
Civilians in Ukraine and soldiers of both forces continue to lose their lives as Russia continues shelling different cities.
Asked about Putin’s decision not to relent, Biden told Fox News: “I think he is a criminal.”
It was the harshest condemnation of Putin’s decision to launch a military operation by any US official since the war began on February 24.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov termed Biden’s statement as “unacceptable and unforgivable rhetoric.”
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday invoked the deadly 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US and appealed to US Congress for more weapons to counter Russia’s relentless bombardment.
Biden responded by announcing an additional $800 million for Ukraine’s military.
