Bhubaneswar: Indramani Sahu, the prime accused in Ollywood and opera actress Usasi Misra assault case, lodged a counter FIR on Thursday alleging that the latter had manhandled him.

According to the complaint lodged at Talcher SDJM court, Sahu accused the actress of issuing a death threat against him. The incident took place while he was trying to park his car. The vehicle accidentally brushed against the actress, who was standing near the stage ahead of her performance organised by Eastern Blue Opera, he said.

The actress reacted violently and when Indramani got down from the vehicle, held his collar, abused and beat him up. He fell down and was rescued by his two sons and some eyewitnesses, who rushed to the spot. Later, Usasi fled the spot and threatened him and his sons to implicate them in a false case, the complaint added.

Indramani has demanded that cases should be registered against Usasi under Sections 341, 323, 294, 307 and 506 of IPC.

On Wednesday, members of Odisha Cine Artists’ Association including Siddhant Mohapatra, Sritam Nanda, Pinky Pradhan and Munna Khan, at a media conference, had strongly condemned the assault on the actress and demanded strict action against the accused.

Usasi, who was also present in the meeting, had narrated her ordeal and blamed police and opera management for their alleged failure to control the situation.

The actress was assaulted and verbally abused at Derang in Angul district, where she had gone to perform in an opera owned by Eastern Blue, on the night of April 22.

I was beaten up and molested by one Indramani Sahu at Derang. I gave a good fight and saved myself. There were scratches on my neck. I want justice and security for me and all other girls of the state,” Usasi had said.

A day after the incident, Kaniha police arrested Sahu’s driver Dusmanta Behera. He too had allegedly thrashed the actress.
