Bhubaneswar: Addressing the 50th convocation of Utkal University here on Saturday, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said education with character building is the first step of a successful life.
The Vice-President spoke about the glorious pristine culture, tradition and culture of Odisha.
Naidu highlighted the valour of the legendary Kalinga king. He said the legendary poet Kalidas has described the king as the “Lord of the Sea” under whose influence, Kalinga had spread its maritime activities in countries like Java, Sumatra and Sri Lanka.
The Vice-President said universities and educational institutions in the country have a major role to play in shaping the future of students. “These institutions need to provide the necessary skills and ability to the students to create entrepreneurial and innovative attitude to make them the employers rather than running after jobs,” he said.
While advising the students to always remain confident and believe in themselves, Naidu told them to always bear in their mind that they are the future of the country. “There is no substitute to the hard work that will bring success for you,” he added.
