Jharsuguda: An undertrial prisoner (UTP) sustained critical injuries after he allegedly jumped from the second floor of District Court building in Odisha’s Jharsuguda on Tuesday.
The prisoner, identified as Sanatan Singh, is currently undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
According to sources, Singh of Junadihi village under Belpahada police limits, was arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by Belapahada police in April last year for molesting a minor girl in 2022. He was lodged in Jharsuguda sub-jail.
On Tuesday, he created a commotion while appearing for a hearing at District Judge Court and jumped from the second floor of the building before others could stop him.
Singh later told police he took the extreme step as the victim and her lawyers were blackmailing him for money.
