Rourkela: The Sundargarh district authorities on Friday ordered a probe into the death of a school student at Sector-6 in the city allegedly due to vaccination.
The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has ordered the probe into the death on Thursday. He has also directed Health officials to stop the vaccination drive across Sundargarh.
The CDMO said he has formed a six-member probe team. Another team formed by the Health department will also investigate the incident.
The CDMO’s action came after the deceased’s family and locals agitated in front of the school. They demanded a probe and compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the bereaved family.
The incident had occurred on Thursday when a team of Health officials administered the vaccine to students of Mahima Vidya Mandir. However, one of the students died later in the day.
The family alleged that the death was due to the vaccination.
