Bhubaneswar: Odisha will be left with no Covishield vaccines from July 9 till it receives the next tranche on July 15.
Expressing this concern, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) PK Mohapatra has urged the Centre to supply the required vaccines in the next two days.
“As of today, we have 6.14 lakh doses of Covishield, which will be consumed within 2 days,” he wrote to the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhusan, adding that the state has been vaccinating over 3 lakh citizens daily subject to the availability of vaccines.
On Monday, a record 4.02 lakh had received the jab.
Mohapatra further said that the allocation of 25.31 lakh doses of Covishield for July is lower than the 28.31 lakh second dose due requirement for the month.
“Hence, you are requested to allocate an additional 15 lakh doses of Covishield to our state to manage vaccination sessions smoothly,” he added.
