Pune: Now, Serum Institute of India (SII) wants to manufacture COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V.
The Pune-based company has already applied to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) seeking permission to make the Russian vaccine.
“Serum Institute of India (SII) put up an application to Drugs Controller General of India on Wednesday seeking permission to manufacture the COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V, in India,” PTI quoted a source as saying.
SII has also sought approval for test analysis and examination.

Sputnik V, which was given emergency use authorisation in April, is being produced in India by Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and five other companies.
Sputnik V has been rolled out in India with Russia supplying the vaccine in multiple consignments. On Tuesday, 30 lakh doses of Sputnik V arrived in Hyderabad.
SII will manufacture and supply 10 crore Covishield doses this month. It will also manufacturing the Novavax vaccine, the regulatory clearance for which is awaited from the United States.
