Dhenkanal: Some unidentified persons have reportedly looted cash and jewellery worth over Rs 8 lakh from the house of an excise inspector in Odisha’s Dhenkanal.
As per reports, excise inspector of Kamakshayanagar Sanjib Kumar Sharma was staying in a rented house at Jiridamali in Shantinagar with his family. On July 3, Sharma along with his family left for Kolkata to meet their daughter pursuing studies there.
Taking advantage of the absence of Shrma’s family, the miscreants broke into the house on Wednesday night. After turning the entire house upside down in search of valuables, they decamped with Rs 3 lakh in cash and some gold jewellery from a steel almirah.
On finding the lock on the front door of the house broken, the locals informed Sharma on Thursday morning. Sharma filed a verbal complaint at Kamakshyanagar police station.
A police team reached the spot and started investigation. Sharma told the IIC of the police station that he had kept the money for the higher studies of his daughter.
